My name is Samantha Lugo Torres, and I graduated from Clemson in December 2026 with a bachelor’s degree in Language and International Business - Spanish. Throughout my studies, I explored international business and marketing strategies in both English and Spanish. I had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain in 2025, where I applied what I learned in the classroom and completed an international internship. Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a master’s degree in Student Affairs and work toward a career in academic advising.

Mi nombre es Samantha Lugo Torres y me gradué de Clemson en diciembre de 2026 con una licenciatura en Lenguas y Negocios Internacionales - español. A lo largo de mis estudios, exploré temas relacionados con los negocios internacionales y las estrategias de mercadeo en inglés y en español. También tuve la oportunidad de estudiar en el extranjero en España en 2025, donde pude aplicar lo que aprendí en las clases y completar una pasantía internacional. En el futuro, planeo continuar mis estudios con una maestría en Asuntos Estudiantiles y desarrollar una carrera dedicada a apoyar a estudiantes universitarios.

About Me
Personal
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico before moving to South Carolina in 2013. Since moving, I have made an effort to continue practicing my Spanish and stay connected to the language and culture I grew up with. This interest played a big part in my decision to study Language and International Business. Spanish is a beautiful language, and I love being able to use it to communicate with others, connect with different cultures, and share a part of who I am.
Academic
I began my journey at Clemson University in 2022 with a different major before eventually switching to Language and International Business. It was one of the best decisions I made, opening the door to incredible opportunities, including studying abroad and completing an international internship in Spain. These experiences have helped me grow personally and professionally while shaping my future goals. After graduating this December, I plan to continue my education in graduate school and pursue a master’s degree in Student Affairs.
Future
In the future, I would love to build a career in student affairs at Clemson, particularly in academic advising or orientation. My experience as an Orientation Ambassador strengthened my desire to support students as they transition to college. Clemson has given me so many opportunities and experiences, and I want to give back to the university by supporting students the way everyone supported me. I have really enjoyed my time at Clemson and exploring the area, and I hope to continue calling the Upstate home.
